The South Shine Journey
The South Shine Journey
Frequently Asked Questions
Why Do I pay a programme fee?
As a programme coordination organisation, we provide the essential infrastructure that makes ethical placements possible. Your fee covers the work of our team in vetting partners, preparing participants, managing logistics, and providing 24/7 in-country support. It ensures your placement is sustainable, ethical, and professionally managed.
When is the fee due?
A commitment deposit is required once you are matched with an opportunity to begin the formal coordination process. The remaining balance is typically due 60 days before your journey begins. We offer flexible payment plans for long-term programmes.
Are there scholarships available?
While South Shine Journeys does not directly provide scholarships, we are happy to provide the necessary documentation (letters of support, project descriptions) to help you apply for university or external funding. Many of our participants successfully secure academic grants for their research or internships.
Do you work with both local and international participants?
Yes. We welcome participants from South Africa and around the world.
I'm not sure which programme is right for me.
That's perfectly okay. Contact us and we'll help you explore the opportunities that best align with your goals.
